FINSTERLAY is a photographic hunt for clues. Olaf Kaul and Marc Hildesheim explore the landscapes of the Eastern Eifel altered by basalt mining and, in their pictures, tell of the associated transformation. It is not only the landscape itself that is subject to transformation; the relationship to it of the people who live here is as well. The whole project is on view for the first time, and forges the bridge between artistic engagement and interpretive documentation.
