Pauline Hafsia M’barek is one of five artists participating in this year’s Artist Meets Archive program organized by Photoszene. During her residency at Museum Ludwig, she worked with the Agfa advertising archive, which is part of the museum's photography collection.

She investigated what photos are made of and which chemical and physical processes play a role in their creation. In her large installations, she combines historical photos, toxic documents, and microscopic examinations. The artist shows that photographs are very sensitive and must be protected from light, heat, and insects.

In this way, she draws attention to the delicate balance between protecting photography and its decay, as well as the connections between the images and the museum.
