As organisers of the NEXT! festival, we accompany and initiate projects and workshops with photo-enthusiastic participants up to the age of 25, the results of which are presented at the NEXT! festival of the young photo scene. Festival of the Young Photo Scene. Creative work and experimentation in workshops together with artistic instructors is therefore just as much a part of the NEXT! festival as the joint curation and presentation of the results at exciting locations in Cologne. Discussions and image reviews also offer opportunities during the festival to talk to each other and to well-known photographers and to discuss one's own work.

The central exhibition "WE_LOVE" shows the award-winning pictures of the German Youth Photography Award in the Museum of Applied Arts (MAKK).
NEXT! discovers young talent and presents the next generation of photography. For us, empowerment and participation are part of the self-image of NEXT! We do not see mediation as an additional offer, but as a core task!

As a cooperation project of four partner institutions involved in different areas of (artistic) photography, NEXT! brings together not only exhibition and festival practice but also experience from cultural education, media education and youth work. In addition to the exhibition presentation of the winners of the German Youth Photography Award 2022, we are currently working with many partners and groups on a diverse programme for the NEXT! festival. We look forward to your contributions, impulses and ideas: as a youth club, school group or student initiative, you can present your projects within the framework of NEXT! or as an individual at the NEXT! Festival in front of and behind the scenes. We accompany the invited projects, groups and participants and offer support and mentoring in terms of content for the presentation at the NEXT! festival.
