    Afghanistan as no one knows it: For 20 years, the Cologne-based author, photographer and curator Martin Gerner travelled through the Hindu Kush: Breathtaking as well as humorous views of everyday war life. Postcolonial deconstruction meet Taliban 2.0, images of Afghanistan that break with familiar narratives. "Impressive. Full of life.", according to ZDF/3SAT Kulturzeit. Memory work in an original sense. Congenial to this are the photographs by Matthias Schneider: as a revival of the ruins of Egypt. Tourist canon. Narratives of destruction meet: Confllct chic meets conflict shock.
