Artist Meets Archive #4: Publication by Jimmi Wing Ka Ho.

Invisible City is a visual search for traces in the Chinese metropolis of Qingdao: Starting from a colonial photo archive, Jimmi Wing Ka Ho traces the visible and invisible remnants of German colonial rule—from restored Wilhelminian-style villas to myth-shrouded underground sewage systems. In the process, the city itself becomes an archive where history disappears, is rewritten—and yet continues to exert its influence.

The book was created as part of the Artist Meets Archive Residency of the Internationale Photoszene Köln at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne.
