Artist Meets Archive is the central program of the International Photoszene Köln, which focuses on the artistic exploration of photography in the context of archives.
Every two years, we invite artists from all over the world to Cologne to get to know a diverse and historic photographic tradition in the city's archives, collections and depots and to develop a new work from it. And to present this to a broad public the following year during the Photoszene Festival, which takes place throughout the city of Cologne.
As part of a four-week residency that takes place in the summer, artists have the opportunity to work with the photography collections of a cooperating institution. They are supervised by both the institution and the International Photography Scene and supported in the development of the exhibition.
