In “Flesh of the World”, Elvo Axt takes a look into the complexity of human existence. Using contemporary dream-like pop-cultural elements, Axt works his way into an exploration of the depths of our society. Partly represented by the liminal nature of the vampire, the scope expands across queerness, loneliness, loss, isolation, mental illness, drugs and the troubling aspects of humanity.
The audience is taken through surreal border areas in which fiction and reality seem to blur time and again. Sculptures are brought to life, vampires roam the world and other perspectives on truth permeate the entire work. The film is complemented by two further sculptures in the room.
