Within any photographic archive rests an inherent question of anthropocentrism and its marginalisation of other-than-human animals. Can we nevertheless reshape memory and retell history from the perspective of animals? Marta Bogdańska invites viewers to question their own knowledge and points of view. Using various artistic strategies, she opens up new ways of reading the photographic collection of the Kölnisches Stadtmuseum to foster empathetic attitudes towards our animal companions in the making of history.
The exhibition is divided into two parts, which are presented in the Open Space of the Kölnisches Stadtmuseum and in the Temporary House of Photography.
