Artist Meets Archive #4: Publication by Pauline Hafsia M’barek.
This catalogue documents Pauline Hafsia M'barek's investigation of the photographs from the Agfa advertising archive, which revolves around notions of decay and deterioration, order and entropy.
For decades, Agfa, a German chemical company, was among the world's leading producers of photographic film and lab equipment. In 2005, the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, acquired the Agfa advertising archive. M'barek's research now explores the fragility of the photographic materials, focusing on their chemical and physical composition, the conditions of their production, and the challenges of preservation, always tracing the new possibilities for interpretation and meaning opened up
The catalog was published as part of the Entropic Records exhibition at Museum Ludwig.
