More about Artist Meets Archive #5
For the fifth edition of the program, Internationale Photoszene Köln and the participating institutions are inviting three artists and one artist collective from Colombia/Berlin, Portugal, Ukraine, and the Netherlands to Cologne: This summer, Lana Mesić, Maria Trabulo, Viktoriia Tymonova, and the duo Juana Awad and Luisa Ungar will spend several weeks in Cologne for their residencies. During this time, they will engage with the collections of the Deutsches Tanzarchiv Köln, the Archiv der Fotowerkstätte Schmölz, the Greven Archiv Digital, as well as the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn and FrauenMediaTurm Köln, to develop a new project and exhibition for the Photoszene Festival in May 2027.
For the second time in the history of this unique residency program, an open call was issued inviting artists to apply to theses diverse photographic archives and collections. The response was as overwhelming as the quality of the submissions: from over 350 applications from nearly 60 countries and an exceptionally strong field of applicants, the four expert juries - comprising representatives from the participating institutions, Internationale Photoszene Köln, and external experts - ultimately selected the nominated artists.
Artist Meets Archive #5 is generously supported by the City of Cologne, the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Kunststiftung NRW, the Sparkassen Kulturstiftung Rheinland, the Sparkasse KölnBonn, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
